Educational Concert

Again this year, the Festival will open with a two-hour Educational Concert.  In the past, concerts have been given by such notables as John Royen, Louis Ford, James Dapogny, Hank Troy & Wende Harston, Nicki Parrott & Danny Coots, Terry Waldo, Jeff Barnhart and many others. This year’s will feature Brian Holland, internationally known pianist, composer and vocalist, performing and presenting “The True Life of a Professional Musician – How Deep Can You Dig?” followed by audience Q&A.


Next, the Student Clinic Honor Band will perform, led by Joe Smith of Joe Smith and The Spicy Pickles Jazz Band.


The program will conclude with what promises to be an exciting and entertaining jam session featuring the Student Clinic instructors led by Bill Clark of the Queen City Jazz Band.  You’ll find these great musicians listed on the Student Clinic page.  


The Educational Concert begins at noon on Friday, July 29th  in the Elks Lodge Ballroom and is free and open to the public.


Sunday Gospel Service

One of the annual Festival highlights is the Sunday Gospel Service featuring the Queen City Jazz Band and vocal great Wende Harston.  The service starts at 9:15 Sunday, July 31 and is open to the public. Plan to arrive early as it is usually SRO.


Dance Lessons


Each Festival day begins with a one-hour dance lesson in the Elks Ballroom.  Lessons are taught by professional instructors and are open to all ticket holders.
